Bethel Lady Warriors to advance to 3A State Tournament

Congratulations to the Bethel Lady Warriors for winning a berth to the 2024 State 3A basketball tournament. The Lady Warriors took 2nd place at the 3A Western Conference tournament in Barrow last weekend and will be heading to the State tournament on March 20-23, 2024.

The Lady Warriors also received the girls Academic Award for having the highest team GPA from all their hard work.

Isabel Lieb was named to the All-Tournament Team, Briella Herron won the girls Free Throw competition, and Malinda Simon won the girls 3-point competition.

The Bethel Lady Warriors will play Monroe Catholic in the opening round of the state 3A tournament on March 20th, 2024. Have a good game!

The Bethel Warrior boys placed 3rd overall.

They lost their first game with eventual tournament champion, the Nome Nanooks, with a score of 61-55.

Bethel won their second game against against Kotzebue. The Warriors struggled to make shots early in the game and the Kotzebue Huskies were hot with their shots. With 2 minutes left on the clock, the Warriors were down 12 points. The Warriors were able to make an incredible comeback with tough defense to bring it to a 3 point game with 1.5 seconds left.

Freshman Warrior Jackson Iverson got fouled on the last second shot and stepped to the line to sink 3 free throws, sending the game into overtime. Bethel won 79-78.

The third game was against Barrow for the second place game. After a tough game, Bethel lost 58-50 to end their season.

The Bethel Warriors also won the team GPA award, and the coveted Sportsmanship Award. Bethel senior Greg Turner was named to the All Tournament team.
