Chavez of Bethel receives Masters Degree

Congratulations to Ryan Chavez of Bethel, AK!

Ryan is a 2010 BRHS graduate who recently graduated with a Master’s degree in School Counseling at Rocky Mountain University in Provo, UT. Rocky Mountain University offers a wide variety of advanced degrees that specializes in training healthcare professionals.

In addition to completing the coursework and clinical requirements to graduate, Ryan has been working concurrently as a school counseling intern at Merit Prep Academy in Springville, UT. After graduation, Ryan intends to focus his attention fulltime at Merit Prep Academy.

Ryan has a history of working with youth in his hometown of Bethel, Alaska. He worked as a substitute teacher and as a paraprofessional in the special education department at BRHS. He was also the head wrestling coach for the Junior High School wrestling program and the head wrestling coach for the Kuskokwim Learning Academy.

Advice from Ryan: “Find out what you’re good at. What are your strengths and what are your weaknesses? Do you like working with people or would you rather work alone? Learn about yourself so when it’s time to pick a job you can save yourself years worth of time and a lot of money to start a career you will love.”
