Men arrested for illegal moose hunt

AWT Bethel received a report of possible same day airborne moose hunting on September 29, 2023 in GMU 18 near Pilot Station. Further investigation revealed Seth Hunter, age 25 of Tennessee, and Connor Sherwood, age 28 of Montana, departed Bethel in a white/green super cub on floats, on September 25, 2023. They set up camp and stayed one night. The following day, the hunters flew the super cub to a different location in GMU 18. After spotting moose from the air, they landed the plane and began hunting. Approximately 5 hours later, Hunter took a bull moose with a bow. They returned to Bethel on September 28, 2023. The moose rack, bow, and backstraps were seized as evidence of the crime. The super cub was returned to its owner. The remaining meat was donated in Bethel. Charges are being forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office in Bethel.
