Happy Easter everyone! The Association of Alaska Basketball Coaches hosted an All-Star game for 1A/2A and 3A/4A senior boys and girls last Saturday in Anchorage at Grace Christian School.
The games are an exciting event to showcase the athletes for colleges who send coaches to scout out potential players for scholarships. It also gives the seniors another chance to play a game that they love and to play with other all-stars who are not from their own team.
This is the first year since 2019 that the all-star games have been held due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Included on the 2022 roster for the 1A/2A girls were Keitha Phillip of Akiachak and Leora Smith of Hooper Bay. For the 1A/2A boys there were Savian Lanier and Anthony Kennedy of the Tanana Wolves who came to Bethel to play with their team and also this year’s runners up in the State 1A boys tournament. Carter Commack and Cody Ivanoff of Unalakleet also made the roster.
The 3A/4A All-Star team featured Ava Lieb and Pete Crow of the Bethel Warriors.
