AABC All Stars feature delta youth

The Alaska Association of Basketball Coaches Senior All Star event is in the books for 2024, taking place at Grace Christian School this past Saturday. The girls 1A/2A game featured Isabella Peterson of St. Mary’s and Raylene Henry of Akiachak. Peterson played for the Gold Team, sinking 5 and Henry played for the Blue Team, she scored 2. Arianna Hart of Nunamiut scored 15 for the Gold team and Naomi Savetilik of Shaktoolik also scored 15 for the Blue Team. Peterson’s team won, 73-64.

For the boys 1A/2A game, Hooper Bay’s Latrell Lake scored 18 on the Gold Team. John Soderstrom of Unalakleet also made baskets, scoring 18. Stewie Sundown of Scammon Bay sunk 9. Ryan Nashanoak also played. The Blue Team’s Josiah Sundown of Scammon Bay scored 15. Carson Long of Hooper Bay made 2. The Gold Team won 111 to 98. Marly Kness of Klawock contributed 17 to the Blue Team.

Bethel’s Carliese O’Brien scored 10 points for the Blue Team during the girls 3A/4A game. Her Mt. Edgecumbe teammate Tessa Anderson also scored 10 for the Gold Team. The Blue team won, 85-58.

This event gives Alaska’s seniors one last chance to play basketball in high school and provides them support on continuing their education journey.
