On September 22, 2022, Valdamire Kinegak was reported missing to the Bethel Police Department. Over the next few weeks, attempts at locating Mr. Kinegak were made by law enforcement and members of the community.
On October 15th, 2022, Bethel Police Department received a call for service in reference to a body found in a local body of water. Officers responded to the scene and were able to locate a deceased person in the water near Brown Slough Bridge on Ridgecrest Drive. Based on a wallet found on the deceased body and the clothing, a tentative identification was made.
The body that was recovered is believe to be Mr. Kinegak. At this time, no foul play is suspected. However, the case is still under investigation and the remains are being sent to the State of Alaska medical examiner for futher investigation.
