Water Sewer rates increase ordinance coming up

An ordinance to amend Bethel Municipal Code to add an additional charge to water and sewer rates for Bethel residents is on the December 13th, 2011 city council agenda.

Ordinance 11-24 is up for introduction on the consent agenda. The ordinance, if passed, would add $5 to each water and $5 to each sewer subscription to help recover the cost of water and sewer system capital improvements in addition to other usage charges.

Mayor Joseph Klejka is the sponsor of this ordinance. The ordinance shall become effective immediately upon passage by the city council.

Also on the agenda under New Business is “Concerns and Remedies Regarding Mandatory Subscriptions to Sewer Services” brought forth by council member Mary Sattler.
