Hoffman, Klejka race to top 15 in Seward

The Bethel Regional High School Warriors expected to do well in Seward. No one was disappointed.

Elliot Hoffman and Jeremiah Klejka both sprinted to top 15 finishes in the boys’ division, and helped the Warriors race to a top 10 finish in the team standings.

Hoffman finished as the top BRHS runner in the meet. He finished ninth in the overall standings, completing the 5-kilometer race in a time of 18 minutes and 2 seconds.

Hoffman’s time was just over a minute slower than the winning pace set by Miles Knotek of Seward.

Klejka was equally as impressive in his first outing of the season. He finished the Sept. 2 race in a time of 18:30.

Taylor Hoffman and Jesse Klejka added to the Warriors’ solid showing. Hoffman was 25th overall at 18:50, while Klejka was 29th at 19:18.60. Carl Jimmie finished 35th, while Christoff Swope and Griffen Calvetti finished 35th, 43rd and 48th, respectively.

Tanya Chavez paced the BRHS Lady Warriors’ efforts. She finished 21st overall with a time of 23:32.40. Kate McWilliams, Chelsey Beans-Polk and Nicole Jimmie also posted top 30 finishes. Williams was 24th, while Beans-Polk and Jimmie placed 23rd and 28th, respectively.

Elizabeth Lindley finished 33rd.

Wasilla’s Mariah Burroughs won the girls’ race with a time of 19:18.60.
